You have probably seen clips of Krav Maga in the movies and on TV, especially ones about spies or former specialists. There has also been many television documentaries on the style and it´s history. What to expect in your first class? The first time you come will be at one of our free introduction classes where you will learn the safety protocals for training as well as some core skills and the format structure of the classes. Through time and development your skills will increase along with your fitness and mental endurance. Your Krav Maga program us thrives on an intense workout, coupled with technique cool down drills and discussion on tactics and theory. The realism imposed by the training demands continuous motion and fighting even when you are tired, this is a key skill which takes a strong mind, and one of our core beliefs of authentic training. But do not worry, it takes time to develop and you will not be completely immersed in pressurised training, but you will be taken out of your comfort zone. What will you learn? You will learn truly effective self defence skills. We primarily target the throat and groin, our main techniques involve things that are banned in most other Martial Arts. Kicks and knees to the groin, eye strikes, throat rakes, joint breaks... this is what we do. You will also learn disarms for knives and firearms as well as the reality of weapons defence. Range, movement, targeting and dealing with multiple attackers will be a common theme for you. On the physical side, Krav Maga can be intense, likened to HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), the bodyweight workouts and movements develop excellent core strength. If you crave contact, then you will enjoy the advanced level techniques and drills. But, all of that contact means you'll be leaving some classes with bruises, mainly to the forearms and shins (but padding can be provided if necessary). And when you get to the higher levels, the tests get to be fights against multiple attackers. But, it´s training and philosophy is based on realism, practicality and effectiveness.
