Good morning to all my superhero colleagues! We can all benefit from a small commitment of time to our own training, practice and education. Just 30 minutes each week will compound to massive gains over time. Do you want to be a better leader? A better colleague? Friend? Partner? or parent?... Leadership is a skill and it can be learned. You can study alone. But being part of a group moving in the same direction has enormous benefits; particularly being scheduled, committed and constantly encouraged towards success… That is why I have started a group called The Leadership Table; and today I am offering you a seat. At Wood we have occasional social events and a weekly sport. But nothing local to encourage development and growth as leaders. What I have come up with is a simple and inexpensive way of engaging into that. Everyone’s input is wanted and valued, the idea is focused on building a stronger community though shared and supported personal growth. It’s easy to be a part of: Step 1: Download the SPOND app to your phone (many of us have this already) Step 2: Add yourself to The Leadership Table group (at the bottom of the app Groups page, Enter code: VYCPJ) Step 3: Develop and become awesome! Be part of a team of people who have a shared vision and desire for personal growth as well as creating a community. It’s beginnings are as a Book Club with a focus on leadership skills. We read one book a month, at the end of the month we get together to discuss the ideas and how we can implement them around us. I think this is a great way for us (individually and as a community) to support each other and take responsibility for building our own schedule of development.
It will help to keep us on track towards goals and stay motivated and inspired to achieve them. There are a lot of sub-topics under the leadership skills banner… you will improved in areas such as:
Growth and understanding in these subjects will have a direct and positive impact in your world outside of the office too. You don’t need to be a manager, you simply need a desire to improve and a belief that better things are possible. In doing some research I found some recommended books that we can begin with for 2023, but it’s flexible. Additions or changes can be made if anyone has a good suggestion or if new routes of discovery are to be explored during the course. (You can view the reading list and schedule in the app, I also have ambitions for training events and workshops too) I look forward to seeing you when we do the reviews and implement the ideas though 2023 😊 Feel free to forward the email or invite others to the group too.
