Friday thoughts #23 - Care
Good morning my superhero colleagues!
Did you know that you can hear a smile?
We are good at putting on a false front. Applying filters. Posting the positive. Social media has us trained to do it.
How we are and how we truely feel is not necessarily what’s on display.
When we care for those around us, we know their baseline and can much more easily pick up on those subtle changes if something is wrong.
Even when someone says they are fine, it doesn’t necessarily mean so. Ticking a box by asking shouldn’t be the limit of our care to each other.
When our gut feeling tells us something, we don’t have to push to interfere, but we can act to ease pressure in subtle ways and make it possible for that person to return to us for assistance.
Small, smart changes: Tune into those around you. When you call and ask how someone is, make sure you listen.
Listening is not just waiting for your turn to speak. It’s a skill in itself.
On that note: To all, those I have a friendship with and those who just know me by these annoying emails,
I can’t always solve a problem I am always available to listen.
